Course Roadmap
Learning Roadmap: Claude
Topic: Claude
Claude is Anthropic’s family of AI assistants and developer tools, spanning general-purpose chat, prompt engineering, workflow automation, coding assistance, API development, tool use, retrieval-augmented generation, and emerging protocols like MCP. The best way to learn Claude is not through generic AI theory alone, but through a mix of official Anthropic learning resources, beginner-friendly Coursera courses, and hands-on developer training that teaches how to use Claude responsibly and effectively in real workflows.
Prerequisites: No strict prerequisites for the beginner courses. For Building with the Claude API and Claude Code, basic programming knowledge, comfort with APIs, and familiarity with Python or JavaScript will help. For AI Fluency for Educators, active teaching or curriculum-design responsibilities are recommended.
Estimated time: Approximately 29 hours
Suggested learning path
Start with AI Fluency: Framework & Foundations to build a solid mental model for effective and responsible AI collaboration. Next take AI Fundamentals with Claude for a broad, non-technical introduction, then Claude AI and Prompting for Everyone to strengthen practical prompting skills. After that, move into AI Automation with Claude to learn workflow thinking. If you are a developer, continue with Building with the Claude API and then Claude Code: Software Engineering with Generative AI Agents for hands-on technical depth. If you work in education, take AI Fluency for Educators after the foundational fluency course, since it is a role-specific application of the same framework.
